asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what construction programmes financed by Scottish local authorities have been held up due to the economic situation.

Mr. Kaufman

The 20 per cent. cuts in public sector capital expenditure which were announced by the previous administration in December 1973 apply to all construction programmes financed by Scottish local authorities, except those for housing and for infrastructure associated with oil development. Details of specific projects which have been affected are not readily available.

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list the publicly financed construction programmes in Scotland.

I would refer the hon. Member to Table 153 of the 1973 Scottish Abstract of Statistics published by the Government Statistical Service, a copy of which is in the Library. This table lists the programme of public expenditure on fixed capital formation including expenditure on construction.
