§ Mr. Normantonasked the Secretary of State for Energy whether he will place in the Library of the House of Commons publications of the European Economic Community relating to the need for greater economy in the use of energy throughout member States; and what steps he is taking to effect the introduction of proposals contained therein.
§ Mr. VarleyI know of no such publication, but the EEC Commission has sent to the Council a communication on the rational utilisation of energy. This is at Annex IV to the Commission's energy policy strategy document (R/1472/ 74), a copy of which has been sent to the Vote Office. The United Kingdom is represented on the group of national experts which is discussing the scope for Community action. The Government's own proposals in this field were outlined in a Written Answer on 25th June 1974.
