asked the Secretary of State for Energy how much money has been allocated by the National Coal Board for coal exploration over the next five years.

Mr. Eadie

During the financial years 1974–75 to 1976–77 the board expects to spend about £4 million annually on the drilling of boreholes deeper than 1,000 ft. and on associated geophysical and survey work. Specific allocations have not yet been made for later years.
