HC Deb 11 July 1974 vol 876 c576W
Mr. John Evans

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) what is the average expenses claimed daily by members of rent scrutiny boards in England and Wales in (a) attendance allowances, (b) subsistence allowances, and (c) travelling allowances for each month, from the inception of rent scrutiny boards to the latest available date:

(2) what is the total amount of expenses claimed, under all headings, by members of rent scrutiny boards in England and Wales to the latest available date.

Mr. Kaufman

I regret that expenditure on rent scrutiny board services cannot without undue expense be separated from expenditure on all other rent assessment panel services for which this Department is responsible.

Mr. John Evans

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment on what date it is proposed that rent scrutiny boards should cease to operate in England and Wales.

Mr. Freeson

The legislation necessary to abolish the rent scrutiny boards will be introduced as soon as possible. Meanwhile they remain independent bodies.
