HC Deb 05 July 1974 vol 876 c301W
Dr. Glyn

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what research has been done on the possible effect of high speed trains on ground vibration and possible damage to property adjacent to railway lines and the aerodynamic noise effects of such trains.

Mr Carmichael

The Railways Board, with my Department's support, is carrying out an extensive programme of research on noise and ground vibration arising from rail operations, including high speed trains. Information about the operation of high speed trains abroad has already been obtained.
