HC Deb 05 July 1974 vol 876 cc301-2W
Mr. Shersby

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what representations he has received from residents of Yiewsley and West Drayton calling for a public inquiry into the appeal by Brent Oil against the decision of the London borough of Hillingdon not to permit the use of 66 Albert Road, Yiewsley, for the storage of paraffin in a residential area; if he will grant such a public inquiry; and when it will take place.

Mr. John Silkin

The Hillingdon Environmental Action Party has written to my right hon. Friend and has forwarded a petition requesting, an inquiry into the appeals against an enforcement notice served by the Hillingdon Council. The notice alleges the carrying out of building operations in the erection of oil storage tanks at 66 Albert Road. While the local planning authority had agreed to the appeals being determined on the basis of written representations, I have decided to arrange a local inquiry in view of the representations made by local residents and the additional ground of appeal which has been pleaded by the appellants. I shall be getting in touch with the council about possible dates.
