HC Deb 24 January 1974 vol 867 cc312-3W
29. Rear-Admiral Morgan-Giles

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will ensure that no disproportionate charge falls on the local ratepayers concerning the allocation of the expenses of providing extra police manpower in Winchester during the recent bomb trials ; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Carlisle

The Hampshire police authority has been asked to pay the additional costs incurred by the Metropolitan Police in assisting at the trials. Any expenditure for this purpose will attract 50 per cent. police grant. We have now received representations from the authority about the bill which has been submitted and these are being considered.
