§ Mr. Horamasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he has appointed any further members of the Housing Corporation, in view of the provisions of the Housing Act 1974.
§ Mr. CroslandI have, in consultation with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland and my right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for Wales, decided to enlarge and strengthen the Board of the Housing Corporation under the provisions of the Housing Act 1974. This will make available to the corporation a wider range of expertise, to enable it to play the leading role in the expansion of the housing association movement envisaged in the Act.
As Deputy Chairman to Lord Goodman I have appointed Lord Greenwood of Rossendale. I am confident that his wide expertise will be of considerable value to the corporation, particularly in helping to ensure close collaboration between registered housing associations and local authorities.
Several other new members of the corporation have also been appointed. These are Father Paul Byrne, Mr. John Coward, Mr. James Kegie, Mr. David Llewellyn, Mr. David Mumford and Mr. William Taylor. Sir Stanley Morton and Mr. Lewis Waddilove have been reappointed for a further term.
