HC Deb 13 December 1974 vol 883 c290W
Mr. Gow

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many in-patients are at present in Lynfield Mount Hospital, Bradford, Yorkshire; how many of them are subject to orders made under Part V of the Mental Health Act 1959; and whether she is satisfied with the security arrangements currently in force in respect of patients subject to such orders.

Dr. Owen

There are 149 patients in Lynfield Mount Hospital, of whom four are subject to orders made under Part V of the Mental Health Act.

Hospital authorities are expected to provide secure accommodation short of that provided by the special hospitals on a regional or local basis. It is for area health authorities to satisfy themselves that the security arrangements in a hospital are appropriate for the patients for whom the hospital is responsible.
