§ Mr. Gowasked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many in-patients are at present in Lynfield Mount Hospital, Bradford, Yorkshire; how many of them are subject to orders made under Part V of the Mental Health Act 1959; and whether she is satisfied with the security arrangements currently in force in respect of patients subject to such orders.
§ Dr. OwenThere are 149 patients in Lynfield Mount Hospital, of whom four are subject to orders made under Part V of the Mental Health Act.
Hospital authorities are expected to provide secure accommodation short of that provided by the special hospitals on a regional or local basis. It is for area health authorities to satisfy themselves that the security arrangements in a hospital are appropriate for the patients for whom the hospital is responsible.
