HC Deb 13 December 1974 vol 883 c290W
Sir George Young

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services at what level a uniform family allowance for all children would have to be fixed in order to involve the same cost as the Government's proposed allowances.

Mr. O'Malley

In place of the £1.50 family allowance for second and subsequent children the level would be 73p for each child; or, if the cost is taken as net of income tax payable on the allowances and the same clawback is assumed for first children as for others, 96p.
