asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the death rate from breast cancer in the United Kingdom.

In 1973 the United Kingdom crude death rate from cancer of the breast, ICD 174, was 446 females per million females in the population.

Mr. Brocklebank-Fowler

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many early warning machines for the detection of breast cancer are available in England, Scotland, Wales and Ulster.

Information on equipment for the early diagnosis of breast cancer is at present being collected. I will let the hon. Member know when inquiries have been completed.
