§ Mr. Alec JonesIt is estimated that of the approximately 39,000 one-parent families headed by a woman who were receiving family income supplement at the end of October 1974, about 23,000 were separated or divorced. Of these roughly 9,000 received maintenance payments.
§ Mr. Georgeasked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many recipients, and what proportion of the total number of recipients, of family income supplement are women in full-time work who are responsible for their households.
§ Mr. Alec JonesAny single person in full-time work together with at least one dependent child forms a household for family income supplement purposes. It is estimated that, at the end of October 1974, 39,000 one-parent families headed by a woman were receiving the supplement. This represents 52 per cent. of the total number of recipients.
