HC Deb 11 December 1974 vol 883 c159W
Mr. Frank Allaun

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will withdraw paragraph 8 of Ministry of Housing and Local Government Circular 17/69 on renewal of time-limited planning permissions.

Mr. John Silkin

I have no immediate plans to do so.

Mr. Frank Allaun

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if, with reference to Cmnd. 5730 "Land", it is his intention that planning permissions granted prior to 12th September 1974 shall normally expire if development has not commenced by five years from the dale on which permission was granted, and if in such cases he intends that the sites concerned should become liable to purchase by local authorities net of development land tax during the transitional period

Mr. John Silkin

The life of planning permissions is already limited under the Planning Acts. Guidance on the application of paragraph 36 of the White Paper and on the new tax arrangements will be issued shortly.
