HC Deb 10 December 1974 vol 883 c138W
Mr. Ted Fletcher

asked the Secretary of State for Trade whether, in view of the possibility of large-scale redundancies in the footwear industry, he will now make a statement on the outcome of his consideration of whether to control shoe imports and reduce quotas from their present level.

Mr. Deakins

The case made by the British Footwear Manufacturers' Association is being examined as a matter of urgency by my Department and the Department of Industry. I hope it will be possible to reach a decision on it very shortly.
