HC Deb 09 December 1974 vol 883 c27W
56. Mr. Stanbrook

asked the Attorney-General whether he will instruct the Director of Public Prosecutions to institute criminal proceedings against members of the Independent Broadcasting Authority for giving aid and comfort to the Queen's enemies by providing facilities for a broadcast by the IRA on 17th November 1974, contrary to the Treason Act 1351.

The Attorney-General

No. I have read the transcript of the television interview. In my opinion, no criminal offence was committed by those responsible for the transmission of the programme.
