HC Deb 09 December 1974 vol 883 cc27-8W
60. Mr. Ridley

asked the Attorney-General if he will take steps to make transcripts of court proceedings more quickly available, and at less cost.

The Attorney-General

The speed of production of transcripts in criminal cases is closely watched by my noble Friend, who is particularly concerned with training and recruitment of court reporters.

The costs reflect the length of the transcripts, at rates fixed by negotiation with the representative body.
