Mr. David Steel

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection if she will implement the recommendation of the Crowther Committee on consumer credit to frame separate consumer credit legislation for Scotland.

The Consumer Credit Bill recently introduced to Parliament was drafted to apply to the United Kingdom as a whole and no major difficulties or disadvantages appeared in doing this.
