HC Deb 29 April 1974 vol 872 c352W
Mr. Adley

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) if he will allocate additional funds to the new county councils to enable them to carry out such essential sewerage construction as will be necessary to cope with any expansion of the house building programme; and if he will make a statement;

(2) if he will detail the schemes for new sewerage works notified to his Department, in Hampshire and Dorset; and when he expects to authorise funds for their completion.

Mr. Denis Howell

Provision of sewerage and sewage disposal facilities is now the responsibility of the new water authorities and they do not normally require my authorisation. The water authorities have been asked to give priority to schemes serving new housing development when deciding their capital works programmes. I am keeping the general position under review.
