Mr. Sydney Chapmanasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will seek to amend the law so that a local authority is permitted to meet in whole or part any expenses incurred in providing an adequate supply of water sufficient to meet the requirements of an existing dwelling-house within its area.
§ Mr. Eldon GriffithsLocal authorities are already empowered to meet in whole or in part the cost of providing separate service pipes to houses supplied from the main by a common service pipe. The cost of improving water services is also admissible where this is incidental to the improvement of a house with grant-aid.
