HL Deb 23 July 1973 vol 344 c1645WA
LORD AVEBURY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What complaints they have received about the difficulty of contacting the office of the Immigration and Nationality Department by telephone and whether the telephone inquiries bureau is now fully staffed.

THE MINISTER OF STATE, HOME OFFICE (VISCOUNT COLVILLE OF CULROSS)

There have been 19 written complaints about the telephone service since the Department moved to Croydon in November. Owing to shortage of experienced staff it is not at present possible to man the bureau fully; but we are doing our best to reinforce it.
