§ Mr. Adam Butlerasked the Secretary of State for the Environment when he expects to publish his review of housing cost yardsticks for local authority expenditure; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. ChannonThe cost yardstick system is kept under close and continuous review. More flexible arrangements were introduced last November to enable local authorities to proceed with new housing schemes at a cost which reflects local market conditions. The number of dwellings in tenders accepted by local authorities in England and Wales to the end of October 1973 was 15 per cent. up on the same period in 1972.
