HC Deb 17 October 1972 vol 843 c57W
Q16. Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the Prime Minister what exchanges he has had with other Commonwealth Prime Ministers about the expulsion of Asians from Uganda; and with what results.

The Prime Minister

I have been personally in touch from the outset with the Commonwealth Prime Ministers most directly affected by the expulsion. Approaches have also been made to other Commonwealth Governments asking them to receive Ugandan Asians holding United Kingdom passports who wished to go to countries other than Britain. The British Government warmly appreciates the helpful and generous response which has been received from both Commonwealth and other Governments.
