asked the Prime Minister if he will invite members of the Scottish Trades Union Congress to have a meeting with him to discuss the Scottish economy and the present trends of unemployment.

The Prime Minister

Ministers have met representatives of the STUC on several occasions in recent months, and further meetings are taking place on 25th and 26th October with my right hon. Friends the Secretaries of State for Trade and Industry and for Employment respectively. The Government are thus kept fully aware of the views of the STUC, and I shall not hesitate to arrange a meeting myself if the need arises.
