HC Deb 24 May 1972 vol 837 c367W
29. Mr. Galbraith

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the extent of improvement schemes for houses carried out in Scotland under the 1971 Act.

Mr. Younger

In the first full six months of the operation of the Act improvements to about 25,000 publicly and privately owned houses were approved for grant, compared with about 11,400 in the six months period a year earlier. The number of local authority and housing association houses for which grants were approved increased from about 8,500 to 19,400: the number of private houses from about 2,800 to 5,600.
