HC Deb 09 May 1972 vol 836 cc340-1W
Mr. Mudd

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what are the numbers, and in what schools, of oversized infant and junior classes in Cornwall; and what steps are proposed to remedy the situation.

Mr. van Straubenzee

In January, 1971, 77 classes with 41 or more pupils. Figures are not published for individual schools. The number of such classes should continue to fall as the supply of teachers continues to improve and the larger school building programmes take effect.
