HC Deb 06 July 1972 vol 840 cc189-90W
36. Mr. Pounder

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how much overtime has been worked in the first five months of 1972 by members of the Royal Ulster Constabulary; and how this compares with the corresponding period in 1971.

Mr. David Howell

The Royal Ulster Constabulary is loyally performing long and arduous hours of duty. During the period stated, an average of 90 hours per month of overtime was worked by those members of the RUC who qualify for overtime payment. The corresponding figure in 1971 was approximately 65 hours per month.

Mr. Kilfedder

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether any complaints have been received since January, 1971, about the higher direction of the Royal Ulster Constabulary in the City of Londonderry.

Mr. Channon

My right hon. Friend is not aware that any such complaints have been received.
