HC Deb 06 July 1972 vol 840 c189W
34. Rev. Ian Paisley

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what steps he is taking to provide security to the area of North Antrim including Rasharkin, Martinstown, Portglenone, Clough Mills, and Glarryford which are now without telephones; and what steps he has taken to safeguard the telephone exchanges in North Antrim generally.

Mr. David Howell

All telephones at Portglenone and Clough Mills are fully operational and Post Office engineers are working to restore full service to Martins-town, Rasharkin and Glarryford as soon as possible. In the meantime arrangements have been made to create temporary lines for essential users and for kiosks.

Special security measures are taken at telephone exchanges. The areas are of course patrolled regularly by the security forces.
