Morrisasked the Secretary of State for Employment how many industrial disputes affecting engineering companies in the greater Manchester area occurred during the period January-June, 1972; how many still remain unresolved; and in how many of these disputes conciliation officers of his Department intervened.
§ Mr. Chichester-ClarkOfficial statistics of industrial disputes include only those 69W involving a stoppage of work and are not available below regional level.
I understand however, that some 60 stoppages of work in engineering companies were reported in the Greater Manchester area during the period 1st January to 30th June this year and that three of these continue. Assistance was given by my Department's conciliation officers in four disputes.
