HC Deb 04 July 1972 vol 840 c69W
39. Mr. David Watkins

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what he is doing to find employment for the workers being made redundant at the Lead gate Engineering Plant, the Ransome Hoffmann Pollard Plant, the Medonsley Colliery and the Morrison Busty Colliery at Consett and Stanley, County Durham.

Mr. Chichester-Clark

My Department is doing and will do everything possible to help those who become redundant obtain alternative employment. This will include as appropriate the use of "job teams" to interview work people in advance of their discharge, special canvasses of employers for vacancies, the use of the "job bank" and advice on facilities for training and re-training, and on assistance in moving to a job in a new area.
