asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will ensure that the name of the capital city of Wales is placed on appropriate signposts in England and, in particular, that it is given equal if not greater prominence than that of Bristol on the appropriate motorway signs.

No. Capital cities are not signposted as such. Traffic importance is the major factor in deciding which destinations should be shown on direction signs.
