HC Deb 04 May 1971 vol 816 c300W
43. Mr Ashley

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will circulate to all local authorities tables covering the following periods: 1965–66, 1966–67, 1967–68, 1968–69 and 1969–70, and showing, respectively, the number of physically-handicapped persons per thousand population registered by each local authority, in rank order, and the average annual amount spent by each local authority, in rank order, per person registered.

Mr. Alison

I have no doubt that local authorities are aware of the figures published in the OFFICIAL REPORT on 23rd and 24th February last, and I see no advantage in circularising them. The figures are in any event not reliable indicators of provision of services for the handicapped.—[Vol. 812, c.75–80; c. 183–190.]
