asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the annual clothing allowance made for ambulant long-stay patients in psychiatric hospitals.

Mr. Alison

There is no standard allowance. Hospitals provide for such patients clothing needed to supplement what they own personally. National expenditure figures are not separately available for psychiatric hospitals. Improvement of personal clothing was
