§ Mr. Peter WalkerThe Government's general policy is set out in the answer I gave on 27th January to the hon. Member for Portsmouth, West (Mr. Judd). As was made clear in Circular 1/71, the Government accept all recommendations of the Preservation Policy Group except that on conservation grant, and on that we are keeping an open mind until further progress has been made with pilot projects. We will be spending more on improvements and conservation projects in Historic Towns than in previous years.—[Vol. 810, c.134.]
