asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he is now able to state when he expects to publish the proposals of Her Majesty's Government on the reorganisation of local government in England.

61 and 62. Mr. Normanton

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) what is the earliest date on which he expects the reformed structure of local government in England to become operational;

(2) what progress has been made towards bringing forward a measure of local government reform in England involving a devolution of power from the central Government and providing for the existence of a two-tier structure.

66. and 67. Mr. Idris Owen

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) when he expects to introduce legislation on the reform of local government in England;

(2) when he expects to lay before Parliament a White Paper containing his proposals for the reform of local government in England.
