94. Mr. Edwin Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he is aware that there are now over 67,000 unemployed in the Yorkshire and Humberside region; and if he will make a statement on the action he intends to take to create new jobs for this region.

101. Mr. Dell

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what further steps he has in mind to stimulate industrial development and employment in the Merseyside development area, in the light of the latest unemployment figures.

Sir J. Eden

I am aware of the trends of employment in these areas, and the Department will continue to do what it can to attract additional jobs to them.
