Mr. Bishop

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what representations have been made to him regarding the registration of the professions in current measures, and particularly concerning the engineering profession.

Mr. Dudley Smith

A number of organisations which negotiate on behalf of their members have made representations concerning their difficulties in obtaining registration under the proposals in the Industrial Relations Bill because of their chartered status or incorporation under the Companies Acts. The Government are now considering how to amend the Bill to facilitate the registration of such organisations.
