§ Mr. Dudley SmithAt June, 1969, the estimated number of employees in employment in the area covered by the Rotherham, Maltby and Dinnington Employment Exchanges, which is similar to the Rother Valley constituency, was 66,100. Of these, 13 per cent. were in mining and quarrying (Order II of the Standard Industrial Classification, 1958), 24 per cent, were in the iron and steel industries (minimum list headings 311, 312 and 313), 3 per cent. were in local government service (MLH 906), less than 1 per cent. were in agriculture and horticulture (MLH 001) and 9 per cent. were in the distributive trades (Order XX).
The estimates do not distinguish separately those resident in the area and those employed on a full-time basis.
