HC Deb 26 November 1970 vol 807 cc190-1W
Mrs. Sally Oppenheim

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will now circulate his proposals to manufacturers of electrical appliances that all domestic electrical appliances manufactured in Great Britain should comply with the safety standards published by the British Standards Institute, and that imported domestic electrical appliances may not be sold in Great Britain unless they too comply with these safety standards.

Mr. Sharples

Proposals that domestic electrical appliances on public sale should comply with basic safety requirements will be circulated next month for comment by all concerned.
