HC Deb 25 November 1970 vol 807 cc138-9W
Mr. Barnes

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what was the original programme of housing starts in 1970 for each of the London boroughs; and what is now the estimated number of homes in each borough for which tenders will be approved this year.

Mr. Channon

The actual tender approvals for this year will be known shortly and I would ask the hon. Member to await that information. No firm programme was set for this year but the Government's aim is to encourage authorities to build up to—or in some cases substantially above—their previous best rate.

Mr. Barnes

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list numbers of families on the housing waiting lists of each of the London boroughs at the present time.

Mr. Channon

I have no more recent information than that supplied by the G.L.C. and published in the OFFICIAL REPORT on 3rd March, 1970—[Vol. 797, col. 73]. I understand that the G.L.C. will shortly be taking steps to bring the information up to date, and the hon. Member may like to approach them direct in due course.
