HC Deb 13 November 1970 vol 806 c296W
Mr. Denzil Davies

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what qualifications in bacteriology the inspector and the assessor who presided at the public inquiry held in March, 1970, into the proposed location of a slaughterhouse at Felinhel, Llanelly, possessed; and what independent advice on the bacteriological aspects of the proposed location they obtained.

Mr. Peter Thomas

The inspector, besides being a fully qualified planner, is a Member of the Institution of Municipal Engineers and is therefore generally qualified in matters relating to water supply. Before making his recommendation he accepted the advice of his assessor who is a Member of the Institute of Civil Engineers and an Associate Member of the Institute of Water Pollution Control and therefore conversant with bacteriology as affecting sewage and water supply.
