HC Deb 09 November 1970 vol 806 cc36-7W
Mr. Clinton Davis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the number of legal aid applications which were made at Great Marlborough Street, West London, Old Street, North London, Thames, Lambeth and Woolwich Magistrates' Courts since the end of July, 1970, in respect of summary proceedings, committal proceedings and cases committed for trial, respectively; and what is the number of legal aid applications granted in each of these respects in each of these courts and the number of refusals.

Mr. Carlisle

Information relating to 1970 will not normally be available until the Criminal Statistics for that year are compiled in 1971, and could not be obtained in advance without disproportionate cost and diversion of court staff from other tasks.
