Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will take steps to compel chief officers of police to implement the fixed penalty system for vehicles which fail to show a current road fund licence.

My right hon. Friend has no authority to do so.

Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will call for reports from chief officers of the police as to the action they have taken in their respective areas for the implementation since 1st September, 1970, of the fixed penalty system for failing to have and to exhibit a road fund licence.
