asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make representations to the Government of the Republic of Ireland in regard to the preparations being made there by the Irish Republican Army to operate in Northern Ireland.

Mr. George Thomson:

No. The Irish Republican Army is an illegal organisation and a problem for the police in the Irish Republic.
