HC Deb 12 May 1970 vol 801 c255W
Mr. Gunter

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government why the quota for the advances by the London Borough of Southwark for house purchases laid down by his Department for 1970–71 is relatively less than those approved for the London Boroughs of Greenwich, Lambeth and Lewisham.

Mr. Freeson:

The quota for each of the four London boroughs mentioned is 90 per cent. of the amounts advanced by them during 1966–67, when authorities were asked to lend to broadly the same classes of borrower on whom they have again been asked to concentrate.

A small amount of this year's total allocation has been held back for distribution in June to authorities to whom an allocation based on their lending in 1966–67 may for good reason not meet their present need adequately.
