§ 43. Mr. Molloyasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government why he has decided that powers to prevent the circularisation of political leaflets with other material by local authorities are not necessary.
§ Mr. Greenwood:I know of only one occasion when this has happened. As I explained to the hon. Member, it was done without the knowledge of the local authority, and it stopped it as soon as it heard of it. I have no reason to suppose that local authorities cannot be relied on to act properly in such matters, and legislation on the subject would be full of difficulty.
