Mr. Eldon Griffiths

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what advice or guidance he now has given to local police authorities about the charges to be made to cricket clubs for the services of police officers to assist at forthcoming matches between English and South African teams.

Mr. Callaghan:

The Metropolitan charges have recently been increased to take account of the increase in police pay and the reduction of the working week. I have arranged for the provincial. police authorities to be informed of the revised Metropolitan charges.
