Bakerasked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many fines imposed by courts in Scotland were paid by the National Assistance Board or the Supplementary Benefits Commission on behalf of claimants in Scotland; and what was the total amount of such payments in each of the past five years to the nearest convenient date.
§ Mr. O'Malley:None. It has always been the policy of both the former National Assistance Board and the Supplementary Benefits Commission not to pay fines imposed by the courts.
