HC Deb 11 May 1970 vol 801 cc219-20W
79. Mr. Donnelly

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what are the reasons for the delay in repairing the bridge crossing the A40 road at Wolfscastle, Pembrokeshire; and what has been the total cost so far to public funds of the delay and his estimate of the eventual cost before work commences.

Mr. George Thomas:

The condition of this bridge was found in 1969 to have deteriorated. Extensive design work is involved in planning a new bridge and I do not accept that there has been delay. I hope that construction work will start in the late summer. The cost of the present single lane system on the old bridge has been about £2,000, and might eventually be about £2,750.
