HC Deb 11 May 1970 vol 801 c220W
Earl of Dalkeith

asked the Secretary of State for Wales whether he will seek to obtain from local authorities in Wales information concerning tree preservation orders, including such details as the number or acreage of trees involved in each order, the geographical location and the amount of compensation paid; and if he will publish the results each year as a Command Paper.

Mr. George Thomas:

I am considering ways in which I can obtain information about the numbers of effective tree preservation orders and the amount of compensation paid as a result of refusals of consent to fell or lop trees or of grants of consent subject to conditions. I will publish the information in the Wales Reports. I do not consider that the collection of more detailed information is justified.
