asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will now bring forward the date that landlords can apply for fair rent provisions on their controlled property from June, 1971, to June, 1970.

Mr. Denis Howell:

No. The first date on which a rent controlled property which already had all the standard amenities can come within the system of rent regulation, under which a landlord can apply for the registration of a fair rent, is 1st January, 1971, 1st July, 1971, or 1st January, 1972, according to the rateable value. My right hon. Friend has no plans for bringing these dates forward.
